Middle Eastern pantry staples meet the wellness world's favorite breakfast. This is the creamiest, most satisfying bowl of oats you'll ever not cook.

Ingredients

0/5 ready
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (any variety)
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 6 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

The Story & Steps

Overnight oats often suffer from blandness, but tahini changes everything. Its rich, nutty flavor transforms simple oats into something luxurious, while dates provide natural sweetness and a caramel-like depth.

Preparation

  1. In a medium bowl or large jar, combine the rolled oats, milk, tahini, and cinnamon. Stir vigorously until the tahini is fully incorporated—it may resist at first, but keep stirring.
  2. Fold in the chopped dates, making sure they're evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. Cover the bowl or jar and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 6 hours. The oats will absorb the liquid and soften to a creamy consistency.
  4. In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If they seem too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve cold or warm it gently in the microwave for 60-90 seconds. The dates will become even softer and sweeter when warmed.

Customization ideas: Top with a drizzle of extra tahini, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, or fresh fruit. A pinch of flaky sea salt on top really makes the flavors pop.
