Instant ramen meets Korean heat in a creamy, spicy fusion that proves cheese and gochujang are soulmates who just needed a dorm room introduction.

Ingredients

0/8 ready
  • 1 packet instant ramen (any flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese or shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

The Story & Steps

This recipe was created during a particularly intense gaming session when someone asked, "What if Korean army stew and boxed mac and cheese had a baby?" The answer turned out to be this spicy, creamy, thoroughly modern concoction.

The gochujang brings funky, complex heat while the cheese mellows it into something dangerously slurpable. It's the kind of meal that fuels late-night problem sets and existential conversations alike.

Preparation

  1. Break ramen noodles into your mug and add water to cover by about an inch.
  2. Microwave for 3 minutes until noodles are tender. Drain most of the water, leaving about 3 tablespoons.
  3. Add gochujang, cream cheese, butter, sugar, and half the ramen seasoning packet. Stir vigorously until the cheese melts and creates a sauce.
  4. Make a well in the center of the noodles and crack in the egg.
  5. Microwave for 45 seconds to 1 minute, depending on how runny you like your yolk.
  6. Stir to break the yolk slightly and distribute it through the noodles.
  7. Top with green onion and sesame seeds.

Spice level adjustment: Start with half the gochujang if you're heat-sensitive. You can always add more, but you can't un-spice a mouth on fire at 2 AM.
